Absolutely fabulous! A quick jaunt to a desolate, untamed, and picturesque beach that's devoid of any civilization. A perfect spot for those who loathe crowds and prefer to bask in the glory of nature. The waves are just right, and the surfing experience is top-notch. When the sun gets too intense, the trees provide a welcome respite from the heat. And if that's not enough, the presence of iguanas and marine creatures adds a touch of exoticism to this already magnificent location.
The beach boasts of pristine white sand, ideal for both swimming and surfing. The waves are quite formidable, yet thrilling to ride. Moreover, there are several shaded spots to relax and unwind.
The stunning Playa Barrigona is an absolute gem, tucked away in a secluded paradise that boasts crystal clear blue waters and pristine white sandy beaches. While some may argue that a 4 wheel drive is necessary, we managed to make our way there on bikes from Sàmara. Although the journey was a bit challenging in the heat of the day, the ride back during sunset was truly magical. Even at 5 months pregnant, I was able to conquer the journey with ease. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly Tico who offered us refreshing coconut water and delicious pina coladas. This beach is truly a hidden treasure that is worth the effort to get there.
This beach in Costa Rica is a real gem, but let's just say it's not for the faint of heart. You'll definitely want to bring your trusty SUV to navigate the tricky terrain. But once you arrive, you'll be rewarded with crystal-clear waters and a refreshing lack of crowds. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak up the sun without any distractions. Trust us, the effort of getting there is worth it.
Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, Playa Barrigona is a serene and unpopulated stretch of beach. It's situated just a 30-minute drive from Sámara, but the road leading to it is quite bumpy and full of potholes (especially in November). However, it's still accessible to 2-wheel drive vehicles. The beach is favored by surfers and boasts choppy waters along the shore. There are signs warning of rip currents, so caution is advised. While there's plenty of shade to be found, it's recommended to bring along beach towels or camping chairs for added comfort. There are no amenities available, so come prepared.
