Chandipur is a beach like no other. During low tides the beach recedes upto 3 KM offering visitors the opportunity to walk on the sea bed. This unique phenomenon helps the beach to support its equally unique biodiversity. It is home to the endangered horse shoe crabs, star fish, sea urchins to name a few. The water of the beach is muddy making it unsuited for bathing.
There's rarely water when people are actually there. Only the locals who can come to the beach early in the morning or late at night can enjoy the water. There's no development of the beach front. The water is dirty and stinks which is expected as the river which drains into the sea carries all the sewage and runoff of residential areas and industries. The water is always brown and muddy and might give you an itchy rash. You'll need to walk around 1.5-2 kms to reach a place where the water is knee high and you can actually see the waves. The weather also does not help since it is extremely hot and humid most months of the year with a surprising lack of breeze. You'll find some marine life - some birds, snails, star fish and jelly fish but the water being so muddy it's difficult to spot them. Panthanivas and some hotel resorts are available nearby as well as paid toilets, parking and small stores selling sea-themed merchandise, eatables etc. It's okay to visit one time on a winter day. The main issue is the absence of the actual sea and the dirtiness and muddiness the few times it is present.
It's not a beach. It would be more apt if we call it a wonder one must experience. And when you do, do it responsibly. Please keep it clean the way it is now. I walked into the sea for about 1.5 km early in the morning(during sunrise)when there was barely anyone else around. It's a great experience. I wanted to walk more towards the sea but wasn't sure of the time of high tide. The locals also confused me as they stated different timings of the high tide. Make sure to watch your steps while walking for the small and camouflaged sea creatures are there in abundance. Avoid going in at night. Around sunset, it looks more scenic, and you can capture some great memories.
"I recently visited Chandipur Beach in Balasore, Odisha, and I must say it was an incredible experience! The unique phenomenon of the disappearing sea during low tide is something everyone should witness. The beach was clean, the water was clear, and the serenity was unparalleled. The local vendors offering fresh seafood added to the charm of the place. I highly recommend visiting Chandipur Beach for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. A perfect getaway for nature lovers. Please visit Sagar darshan restaurant I must recommend it that is the back side of that restaurant.
Beautiful Beach! Not so crowded place. You can also take a bath here. You get an amazing view of the Sea ❤ Nearest Station : Balasore. Approx distance from Balasore is 15 km.
