I recently visited this beach in August 2023. There is now a gate in a private property sign preventing anybody getting down the track. To access it you have to go round to adjacent beaches and walk on the coast
I recently visited a beach that was great, but the new owner of the land nearby was really unpleasant. He blocked the road with a truck, so we had to squeeze under it to leave. He also secured the gate so it was difficult to get out. Does anyone know if we can still access that area or not? Any information would be appreciated.
One of my favorite spots along Costa Brava is accessible only by car or motorbike. The journey there is an amazing experience in itself, as you drive along one of the most scenic roads in Spain. Parking can be tricky, as there is limited (and free) space on the main road, and a private parking lot that costs 15 euros. There is a bar close to the beach, so you can grab a bite to eat if you get hungry. The sand is of a large grain and the beach is quite narrow, so it's easy to find a spot to relax. Plus, the beach is open to nudists and those who prefer to keep their clothes on. For those who love to snorkel, I highly recommend exploring the left side of the beach until you reach the bridge leading to the next beach. Best of all, the beach is open to the public for free!
That place is quite secluded and requires a bit of effort to get to, but it's worth the effort. You can enjoy beautiful views of the open sea and the peace and quiet. During the season, there is a restaurant and parking available, but it is closed out of season so you'll need to park your car on the main road and walk the rest of the way. Be aware that parking is chargeable and only available during certain hours.
The beach at Platja d'Aro is great, but you might want to consider paying for the parking lot (6eur) as it can be quite a distance to walk during the summer.
