I have never seen a beach as dirty as this one. The sewage from two channels flows directly onto the beach without any treatment, right out in the open.
Since it was the end of the year, crossing the bridge to reach other beaches became impossible. Consequently, we ended up spending our time at the nearby bars in Malhado on December 31, 2016.
Swimming in the sea is not allowed at this beach due to pollution. The beach is affected by two rainwater networks, one of which carries waste from the Hospital das Clínicas do Malhado- COCI. However, during low tide, many athletes take advantage of the dry tide to play football. There are even multiple organized associations that frequently arrange football tournaments, attracting football enthusiasts.
The beach is quite basic compared to others I've visited. It's a decent spot to unwind for a few hours, but unfortunately, swimming is not recommended due to pollution. Additionally, the sand has been littered with trash and organic debris lately.
Praia do Malhado provides excellent amenities such as a well-maintained bike path, numerous playgrounds, beach huts, and kiosks that serve refreshing drinks, local dishes, snacks, and play music. Additionally, there are skate ramps and sports courts available on the sandy beach, making it a favorite spot among locals. The beach boasts tranquil and pristine waters, along with a vast stretch of fine white sand, adorned with coconut trees. However, we refrained from swimming based on the information provided on-site, which deemed it unsuitable for swimming.
